Wednesday 8th 2012

I feel like the more I cram pack this info into my head the less I seem to know it. For me, testing like this is just a game of "who can stuff themselves the most" then walk into an exam room and puck it all back up over the pages. But is that learning?

Oh me and artistic brains :P I am not a very good regurgitator - but that's OK. I love that when I do something I do learn it even if it does take a little longer. And that when I am truly finished with a project the results are outstanding. I love my sense of integrity. I carry myself with pride.I have an amazing energy and everyone can feel it...

I think I have forgotten that a bit over the last 35 days...

I may not be the best at tests but I am the best at a lot of other things that do that raise me up. So, I need to stop stressing. If my mind doesn't retain all this sanskirt right now for all these different yoga philosophies,  that's OK - I know them in english :P and the sanskirt will come  in practice. Then I won't just have it in my brain to be lost after a test it will really be mine. That is far more relevant for me.  Still, the reality is that I want my certificate asap so I must play the game a little and do well on this exam...

& I will :)

I finished the 1st draft of my book today for Allaine's class. By 1st draft I mean what I need to complete for this course but this assignment and the idea of it  has opened a whole bunch of doors in my mind.  Where I would like to take this idea... super excited for the possibilities. Thank you Allaine for this blessing of hard work. I love these things where I get to showcase how keen I am at presentation and understanding how to draw people in.

We live in a visual world. How great is it that I am in yoga and I am a professional photographer. I love it!

Yoga IS for everyone. I have learned that and respect that so much in the last 2 weeks of training with Allaine.  Now I need to figure out the secret because it is not just knowing how to make yoga accesable to everyone but also how to make it desirable to everyone.  That is key.

It's late and I still need to do more studying. Need to go to bed before 1am too. So many late nights works on all this yoga stuff.

My love will be here on Saturday.

Wish me luck

Much love to you all!

Sunday August 5th 2012

As part of our homework we were asked to  research what product are in the current children vaccinations that are given to babies in TODAY's medical world. I have to say that it is Mind Boggling

Here is a list of some of the typical ingredients found in baby vaccines:
Formaldehyde
Thimerosal
2-phenoxyethanol
Aluminum Hydroxide
Aluminum Phosphate
Ammonium Sulfate
aspartame
Benzethonium Chloride
Beta-Propiolactone - chick embrionic fluid
Formalin -
Glycerin
Monosodium L-glutamate (MSG)
Phenol
phenol red
Phosphate buffered saline
polydimethylsiloxane (silicone)
Polysorbate 20
Polysorbate 80 (Tween-80)
Potassium Chloride
potassium diphosphate
Potassium glutamate
potassium monophosphate
Potassium phosphate dibasic
Potassium phosphate monobasic
Sucrose
Sodium bicarbonate
Sodium phosphate dibasicSorbitol
Soy Protein
Yeast

Crazy right! Jaw dropping!

In my research I did find out that mercury has finally been taken out of most childhood vaccines. Nevertheless, there is still a significant amount of mercury in many flu shots as well as tetanus booster shots and some meningitis vaccines. Trace amounts of mercury still remain in other vaccines. Mercury is known to be one of the most toxic substances on earth and no amount of mercury is safe, especially when injected into a baby’s small developing body.

With the current vaccination schedule, over 100 vaccine antigens and significant amounts of toxins are injected into the bloodstreams of babies and young children before the age of five. Chemicals and heavy metals known to be toxic are used in vaccines as preservatives, to inactivate or kill the viruses or bacteria used in the vaccines, and as adjuvants or enhancers to help improve effectiveness.

Most vaccines are given in the first and second year of a baby’s life during the critical period of brain and immune development. Some doctors say that a baby’s immune system is not strong enough to handle the amount of vaccine antigens that are directly injected (bypassing normal entry), and their livers are not developed enough to metabolize or excrete the toxic chemicals or metals in vaccines.

What is said about Aluminum:

Most of the recent reports and discussion concerning toxicity of vaccines has revolved around the mercury issue, but mercury is certainly not the only toxic problem with childhood vaccines. Aluminum is used as an adjuvant to boost the immune response from vaccines. Scientific evidence of the safety of injected aluminum is sorely lacking.
Aluminum can accumulate in tissues and can build up to toxic levels in the bloodstream, bones, and brain. Accumulation of aluminum in the brain is known to impair neurological and mental development. Animal studies show that aluminum causes convulsions, impaired memory, and defective learning.

The difference in the amount of aluminum that may be considered safe for babies and the amount that is actually contained in vaccines is alarming. The FDA website says that premature babies receiving injected aluminum through IV fluids at levels greater than 4 to 5 micrograms per kilogram of body weight per day, can accumulate aluminum at levels associated with central nervous system and bone toxicity, and toxic build-up may occur at even lower rates. For a tiny premature baby, the toxic dose would be 10 to 20 mcg. It is estimated that a 12-pound, two-month-old full-term, healthy baby could safely receive at least 30 mcg of injected aluminum via IV per day. But it is unknown how much more aluminum a healthy baby can handle and how much can be safely injected into a baby via vaccines.

The safety of aluminum levels in vaccines has never been established. No research has been done to determine a baby’s ability to excrete aluminum to prevent toxic build-up. No one has measured the levels of aluminum absorption by the bloodstream when an aluminum-containing vaccine is injected into a baby. Also disturbing is the lack of data to determine if injected aluminum interacts with other vaccine toxins to cause harm to small developing bodies.

A newborn baby receiving a Hepatitis B shot on its first day of life gets 250 mcg of aluminum from this vaccine. The total amount of aluminum that a 2-month-old baby receives from the recommended “well-baby” vaccines could vary from 295 mcg. to 1225 mcg., depending on which vaccines are given. This dose is usually repeated at 4 months and again at 6 months of age.

Other Toxins and Allergens

There are also trace or residual amounts of 2-phenoxyethanol, phenol, albumin, sucrose, lactose, MSG, glycine, formaldehyde, and antibiotics (neomycin) in vaccines. These are very small amounts, but do we want to continually inject even small amounts of these toxins directly into our tiny babies’ developing bodies, given their inability to detoxify and how vulnerable they are to low levels of toxins? If trace amounts of formaldehyde, MSG, or antibiotics were in foods that were to be given to our babies, most of us wouldn’t allow it. Yet, these toxins go directly into the baby’s bloodstream.
Vaccines also can contain egg and yeast proteins. We delay giving our babies solid foods, mostly to avoid the proteins that can cause allergies. Why would we inject isolated proteins into their bodies at 2 months old?

August 4th 2012

We learned reflexology in the last half of my classes today. Needless to say VERY wonderful! The feet are amazing little things we don't give enough credit to. So break out your oils and give those tootsies some TLC.

In my second yoga class today with Gabby she sung the Gayatri Mantra that we need to know for one part of our exams. Hardly anyone in the class was repeating after her so I had to pipe up :P So THANK YOU GABBY! Through this I finally have for sure in my head. Such a pretty montra. I love it.

Lane called me today and told me he was playing in the company gold tournament (which I know he loves so all in all we are both having great days which rocks!).  What is especially wonderful it that this will be the last Saturday that I see his lovely face on Skype. This time next week he will be with me here in Miami! Can't wait.

Till then, I am staying focused on all my yoga - Allaine told me today that the videos I sent her of my practicing teaching with the  for poses for the lower back and treating pain were well regarded by her son :P Thank you! that says a lot :) Allaine's 9 yr old son also made her a candle light dinner to come home to since she was going to be working till late. It's that the sweetest thing!

I spoke with two of my dear friends today when I got home from classes today. One of them, in Toronto Cananda,  is achieving her and her husbands dream and moving to LA next month! I am so excited to hear this. It was been a couple years since they set up to make this move and I know there has been times where she has wondered why it wasn't happening sooner.  But  the wait is over and next month they will be LIVING in LA!

My other friend, in Tamarindo Costa Rica, last year was struggling with her business and getting the word out there on her business. I made some suggestions on how to use trip advisor to help her as well as a business fb page.  She messaged me today saying that a year later since doing what I suggested she has saved up enough income with all the revenue her business made through these free ways to promote it, that she is ready to take her business to the next level. Amazing news! I am super stocked for her and so touched by her message of gratitude to me today. She did it! I am so happy for both of my dear friends and there success!

To all my other dear friends and family who I have not spoken much to in the last two month (before I got here with all my work gearing up to leave and then the time that I have been here in this training), let me take this time to thank you for you love and understanding. One more week to go. I have learned so much and I am excited to share all of my leanings with all of you.

One of my friends asked me what I thought of how it has been in this course. I told her I couldn't answer her at this time. I told her I would get back to here two days after the end of my course when I am on the other side. I will tell you the start was nothing like what I was envisioning or expecting. Nevertheless, sometime the things that stick with us the most in life are the  things that we cannot plan for. I did tell my friend that I am proud of myself.

About two weeks into the first section of our course with Fred he told us a story about a caterpillar cocoon. He told us this story of these two boy who walk each day through the forest to school. They saw this caterpillar cocoon on there walk every day. One day they saw  that the caterpillar cocoon has split open and that there is a butterfly struggling to break free of its caterpillar cocoon. One of the boys decided to help the butterfly and cut the caterpillar cocoon open so it could get out. He did so, and away the boys went to school. The next day they came across the same caterpillar cocoon and the butterfly was there beside the caterpillar cocoon dead. You see, the butterfly needed that struggle of breaking through it's own caterpillar cocoon in order to build enough strength to fly.

I know it is a little self evident the results in this story but I think for me it is what has helped me gain perspective.

I am not sure why, but the last few days I haven't had much to day on this blog. In this section of my course, Gentle Therapeutics, with Allaine,  I have found some inner peace. Some inner quiet and I am taking a moments to let it resonate.

Wednesday August 1st 2012

Happy August! My class doesn't start with Allaine till 2:30pm today so I am writing my blog now.

JUST FINISHED FRED'S SECTION OF THE COURSE! Yep whole package with EVERYTHING required is sent out to him. It is a total of 108 pages!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy holy! But that is everything with my food log and my essay, and my class reviews and all the chapters homework. Super excited it is all done.

Need to get back to work on Allaine's book now. Soon I need to start studying for Fred's exam too. I am going to be taking the exam a couple days before the last day since Lane arrives on the 11th and in the start we were told that the 11th was our fun day not exam day. So I told Lane to get here in the morning but now they have changed things so to adapt I am just going to do my exam early - so need to be ready.

Here is a video of me working on my forehand stand at the apartment

Ah great morning yoga self practice.

Later in the day we were given homework of holding head stand against the wall for 3 minutes and then another 3 minutes and the the same with shoulder stand. I taped the 1st headstand...or should I say Salamba Sirsasana to Sarvangasana :)

I was feeling rather stressed today when I got to class. Lots happening and I have been through a lot here in the journey. It can be overwhelming at points and I don't even have my own home to go to after to feel at ease in. I talk to my husband a lot but it's not the same.  I just wanted to take a minute to send a special thank you to my yoga instructor and classmates for instantly making me feel better. I am so grateful to you all! xo

Time to get tired up again in Allaine's class. Love Allaine's classes - learn so much but with lots of laughs. Time to tie me up again :P Here are some of the set up shots for Shoulder Stand -Salamba Sarvangasana

Tuesday July 31st 2012

12:42am - I am 90% done my package to Fred. I just need to photography all my food logs and the sequence from my notes book and then I am DONE all the chapters with the questions.

Wow - once I get those photos done with morning light I can focus 100% everything I am learning in Allaine's class!

Today Rachelle and I were hit by a car on the way to the yoga studio. No big deal but for me even little car accidents put me into a state of panic with my history or TWO car accidents I should have died from. One when I was 11 years old and one (ten years to the day) when I was 21. So I feel a little frazzled this afternoon.

Allaine is allowing up to record all these hrs towards our teacher training which is great! with all the work I have done today and every day since we started with Allaine I will have no problem getting to me hrs needed for the course which is relieving. I was worried about it! I was trying to figure out how I was going to get it all done.

I am worried about the final exam in 2 weeks but I need to change that into something positive. I can do it.

I like this version of the Gayatri Mantra - listen to it. I need to memories it for the exam so I am going to type it out here too:

Aum bhoor bhuwah swaha
Tat Savitur Varenyam
Bhargo devasaya dheemahi
Dhiyo yo nada prachodya

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qj3OadSnMo4&feature=related

I received a package from my mom (so sweet - thanks mom I love you!) with all my fav teas and goodies & a skirt suite I got back when I was 17yrs old that she found amongst stuff in storage & guess what! IT FITS!!! Oh so grateful to be back to healthy and getting even more so every day. I am blessed!

Monday July 30th 2012

13 more days. I wish I had more time to write all about my day but after spending 7 hrs at the studio today I have spent the last 6 hrs working here on my computer on the package for Fred's section of the class. I am up to chapter nine now in the text which is good and all my class reviews are done so I just need to photograph my food log to put in and the poses and finish these chapters and I will be set.

Going to plug way for a bit more and then go to bed.

Leaving you with the mantra for love. RaMaDaSa - Snatam Kaur - Love Vibration

Much love to you all!

Sunday, July 29th 2011

I switched over to Gentle Therapeutics Yoga with Allaine yesterday. It has been amazing. I am still super busy with a lot of Fred's work. At least I am done our essay requirement. I am going to critique 2 classes tomorrow so I can get that section of my course done as well. And then there is all the chapters of questions I am over answering! It is taking me 2 to 3 pages per answer.

Lane says to me "Tara - you aren't re inventing the wheel - tighten it up and get that work done." Advice I need to hear but somehow I seem to think my way is always better even if it is silly. I am on chapter 7 with answers and my homework anaswers is up to 32 pages and other peoples in my class is up to 3 or 4 page so it is time that I take Lane's advice. Just don't tell him that :P (I doubt he reads this lol)

My book for Allaine is in the works. I will have to photograph someone though myself though for all these poses. I love my fellow yoga teacher in training students but....they aren't photographers :P

I am tying to reach my man but I can't which is making me kind of sad right now.

Went to a dinner party tonight and had the privilege of hearing Karina sign. Her voice is stunning and heart felt. She seems so in her element when singing. Thank you to Illy for hosting the get together and to Rachael for ensuring my pants won't fit tomorrow after those amazingly rich and yummy cupcakes :)

Proud of myself for making in nearly 3 months without drinking but excited to have a martini with Lane when he gets here

Two more weeks! So much work still to be done! Very excited to be in Allaine's section of the course to continue my journey.

Worried about Fred's final exam, studying for the 1st time in almost TEN years and of course getting all the work done and getting all my hours in for my certification but somehow it will all get done.

Very tired...going to head to bed soon and start to get read. My assigned affirmation from Allaine will take me a while too but they make me smile! THANK YOU Allaine!

Here is a photos from my class today. My hair is a mess 'cas I had to shower outside after my hot yoga class where OMG I sweat. So yes shower outside then change and go to class.  Here is one of our poses for Allaine's section of our class. Thanks Val for snapping this :)

Examination: Subject of Choice by Tara Leigh for Fred Busch

“Vibration is a consistent, repeated, rhythmic pattern of movement. Vibration is the essence of all matter, energy and consciousness. Vibration is the basic emanation from which all matter, energy and consciousness is created. All vibrations are a “wave-form, with oscillations per unit of time, called frequency” Wheels of Life: A User's Guide to the Chakra System  Judith Anodea

Health is the reason I originally sought out yoga. I am drawn to the way yoga creates a sense of calm in my body. I was initially drawn to the way yoga healed me using nothing more then my body; working simply with all that I am and nothing more.

I am identifying most with unspoken relationships between healing and the benefits of the breath in yoga. This however has opened my conscience to so many questions. I have become aware and I am interested in the sense of vibrations and frequencies that we submit, receive, transmit and create ourselves. “Vibes” as we so commonly call them.

Here, in this paper, I would like to examine the interaction between vibrations and frequency with our body.  How are they stimulated to benefit our health through yoga? To be even more specific, I would like to talk in this section specifically about each individual’s unique absorption of vibrations and frequency through the “aura”.

At some point in an individual's evolution through age and experience, we come to the realisation that we are made of more than just our physical body. We begin to understand that there is more to the world than meets the eye.

So lets define what is an aura. According to http://www.thefreedictionary.com/aura the aura is defined as:

au·ra  (ôrn. pl. au·ras or au·rae (ôr) An invisible breath, emanation, or radiation. A distinctive air or quality considered to be characteristic of a person or thing 2. any invisible emanation, such as a scent or odor 3. (Medicine / Pathology) Pathol strange sensations, such as noises in the ears or flashes of light, that immediately precede an attack, esp of epilepsy 4. (Spirituality, New Age, Astrology & Self-help / Alternative Belief Systems) (in parapsychology) an invisible emanation produced by and surrounding a person or object: alleged to be discernible by individuals of supernormal sensibility.

So what is the relationship between each person’s aura and vibrations and frequencies? Vibrations and frequencies create an aura. The aura is a reflection of our personal electromagnetic field. This part of our energy field is a projection of the vibratory rates emitted by our body. We display thoughts and emotions on a conscious and unconscious level to our aura. It reflects the energies of not only our physical condition but our psychological condition.
The aura gives information on the energetic state of cells, organs & meridians. Each colour frequency is an indicator for the condition of the immunity level. If an organ’s vitality gets imbalanced, the power of the immunity gets out of balance. It then has the potential to go into resonance with viruses, bacteria & parasites. If the energetic balance or homeostasis is restored then the viruses, bacteria & parasites disappear because they lose their energetic nutrient medium. There is no good or bad aura, just a momentary energy situation.

“Thoughts are an actual vibration within our aura, which is created by our mental body, but they are vibrations that we can control. This interactive relation of the aura has the result that negative thought can manifest in the material body as pain or disease.” Understanding how your Aura affects EVERYTHING by Shauna Adsitt

We have a choice when negative thoughts come up, we can choose to continue to spiral down and lower our energy field or release the negative thought and choose to flip it to a more healthy & positive outcome. Can you imagine what a better world we would live in when more people realise that with some patience we can succeed in becoming the master of our thoughts?
In sahaja yoga, vibrations are emitted from our body when our kundilini rises to sahasrara. The extent of vibrations could be felt. It is documenting that the aura is a part of the ten bodies of light model, on which yoga numerology and master number analysis is based, and it is the sum total of your nerve strength and bio-electric energy.  It plays a subtle but important role in your life, as the aura spontaneously affects and influences others who come within its reach.  Therefore, a person with a clear, powerful aura would be very charming and magnetic, and able to mesmerize others with their simple presence and being.  In addition, the aura is like a shield against negative energies and unknown forces, which may wish to influence or harm you. So how can we use yoga, meditation and sound frequencies to protect our aura?

With yoga we can first strengthen the aura on a physical level using the frequency of our breath to move us through.  Clearing and developing the power of one’s aura and magnetic field is an important aspect of yoga in general. There are many wonderful asanas (exercises) to accomplish this, such as Eagle Pose for a powerful aura. In other practices of yoga the Kundalini Yoga techniques (which are designed to clear the aura) almost always have a vigorous breathing pattern associated with them.  This technique is again in line with this approach, and uses the powerful Breath of Fire breathing exercise to maximize its purification powers. Other ways to affect the aura through yoga and the use of vibrations and frequencies to affect our cellular signals is through chanting/ meditation and props such as the Tibetan singing bowls.

Chanting, pranayama breathing, metitation and the Tibetan singing bowls may be used for healing and auric alignment by using specific vibration notes as related to the Seven Chakra system referenced in the practice of yoga. When put into practice the aura picks up these frequencies and vibrations as “Healing Vibrations”.

In theory it is the vibration of the melody and the words that enter our being through our ears, through our whole body and our mind, which heal us.  When applying with such frequencies and vibrations to our situation we can affect our emotions positively, boost our immune system to ensure good health, and balance our metabolism. Certain noise levels can significantly affect your digestive system as well, per research conducted on people studying the effects of urban noise on the body and brain.

Mantra Yoga and Primal Sound: Secret of Seed (Bija) by Dr. David Frawley, speaks about the use of ancient wisdom traditions with a symphony of vibrational frequencies. In this beautiful, comprehensive, and unique work, the author elaborates the essential truths about cosmic sound, and how we can incorporate important mantras for healing, transformation and inner awakening through the aura.

In Govinda Kai’s article Yoga and Sound he asks “Why is sound so important to the practice of yoga?” then answering  “All reality, both spiritual and material is composed of different levels of vibrations or frequencies.” Sound is simply a form of vibration. As such, it has a very strong effect on not only the mind, but on reality itself. “The ancient sages of India discovered through great wisdom and experience that there are many different kinds and levels of sound. They discovered that these different kinds of sounds produced profound effects on the psycho-spiritual makeup of the mind and life of man.”

Any sound or any spoken word has a certain energy, vibration, or frequency, that either agrees or disagrees with our bodies.  In yoga, chanting is used at the beginning and end of yoga classes with the chant of “OM”. “When [we] chant OM, let it vibrate on the solar plexus. All the power of creation, the whole universe is present deep inside you. Let it vibrate in each cell of your body.” - Swami Vishwananda

An interview with Christina King taken from the Drew Mariani Show aired on Relevant Radio Studies focused on a group of Monks that practiced Gregorian Chant, suggested that its use can and does alleviate fatigue, depression, and illness because of the hertz ranges (around 8000) and vibration patterns of the sounds. Gregorian chants creates a harmonic vibration that has been proven in studies to eliminate fatigue, heal and cure disease and illness, extinguish depression and enable the person who sings Gregorian chant to stimulate the part of the cerebral cortex through creating a separate vibration with our bones at a completely different vibration and hertz level that, when the cranium and skull vibrate at this frequency, acts like a magnifier as the bones of the head amplify the vibration affecting the brain at an even more magnified capacity.

Using frequency for healing consists of either disrupting unwanted frequency, such as those of a virus or bacteria, or by amplifying healthy frequencies.  Disrupting unwanted frequency occurs similarly to the way an opera singer breaks a glass.  The glass resonates to a particular tone; amplifying that tone beyond the level of energy the glass can absorb causes it to shatter.  The same can be done with bacteria and virus by bombarding them with amplitude of resonant frequency beyond their ability to absorb.   On the other hand, providing the desired frequency at the desired amplitude can support optimal health.  When the body resonates with this frequency it creates the optimal conditions for health. The use of frequency for healing is the current cutting edge of alternative health modalities. (FREQUENCY HEALING Overview and History Dr. Synthia Andrews, ND)

In this examination of yoga and the aura in it’s relationship with vibrations and frequencies I have come to learn that every living being is made up of its own vibrant energy.  Through yoga, chanting, meditation (and meditation vibrational sound tools) we can enhance our healing and rejuvenation. Through our auras, we ourselves are very much like “big batteries”.  Energy can flow through us. We can become charged and we can discharge and we can empower others.

Friday July 27th 2012

Today was Fred's last day teaching us and tomorrow I go into phase 2 of the course. Our extensive exam is in 2 weeks.

Congrats to me and to all my classmates who have now all completed the practical exam. Very exciting.

I am currently writing a paper on vibrations and frequencies. I would like to examine the interaction between vibrations and cellular signals. I would like to discus how vibrations and cellular signals are stimulated to benefit our health through yoga?

I am getting pretty tired but really into this paper I am wright and researching. But I do have to be up early tomorrow for Allaine's class so better wrap it up soon.

I am a little sad right now because I lost my ring today that was custom made by Gisele of
The Barber's Daughters. It says on the ring "to thin own self be true." I have had it for years :( it is making me sad not to have it but it is reminding me of a part in Eckhart Tolle's book "a new earth" and how we get attached to our things making them a part of our identity but when they are gone we are still who we are just as much as who we were with that item...I know this to be true but doesn't make my finger feel any less lonely without it.

Thursday July 26th 2012

I DID IT :) yay! It was AWESOME and I did it very well which rocked. Special thank you to those who practiced with me and of course to my man (Lane)  who I subjected to 5 classes in the last two days. Poor guy! Thank you my love :) I made it through my 1st practical exam :)

So I am excited. Feel tired. Last week I just dropped all other things and dedicated everything to person practice of this sequence. Last night did the sequence with Lane till after midnight then tossed and turned till 3am with the sequence playing over and over in my head. I was back up at 7am and skype called with Lane again giving another class. So I defiantly worked on it over and over and over again :)

Now back to all my book work I need to accomplish with is so much and then start studying for his exam which seems very difficult and very content heavy. I have one more weekend with Fred and then I start with the other instructor (Allaine) with all of her work - wow it's going to be an intense bit ahead. At this moment though I am going to resonate in my success :)

Hope everyone had a great day today. 16 more intense days ahead :)

much love and gratitude!

I ordered a Tibetan Singing Bowl online today too after reading that article on the healing benifits. Listen to this medication. I think it sounds amazing!

Wednesday July 25th 2012

I am practicing and practicing and practicing my sequence till I am blue in the face for my exam for tomorrow -in fact I think I am almost OVER practicing now 'cas I am getting mixed up on things that are just silly. I think my mind is tired.

This morning I did a skype yoga class with Lane today :) I am waiting to hear back from Lane to see if he wants to do another class tonight p - lol poor guy I am using and abusing him :P

SO super excited to just get this test over with now! I NEVER say this but after all this MAN I need a drink lol ...haven't had a drop to drink in months - since I last saw Miranda. Oh Miranda - miss you!

I popped up in to peacock pose SUPER quick today and even did the side straight leg pose today which is pretty impressive.

Learned sanskrit in class today - wow amazing!! but such a foreign concept! So much is being packed into our brains it is crazy. I hope my retains :)

Looked up more chants tonight to kind of get more about what Fred was teaching us today on how to say things. Came across all sorts of different ones. Love these ones!

Two more sleeps till my practical exam...

After today I feel better though, Fred isn't being as hard on people as I thought he would be.Two people did their exams today already.

So I am teaching to a room of invisible yogis as I practise for my practical exam with the sequence this Thursday. Even did the class over the phone on speaker to Lane since he is home sick. Kind of strange to do it when you can't see the person but actually it was really great for being very clear on instructions and having to working on voice tonality to motivate through those more challenging poses over the phone from here to Nevis. Very cool. Thanks my love!

Special thank you to Val today for teaching us so much on the anatomy of the body. In two hrs my brain was stuffed pack full of so many things about mussels that I couldn't see straight - but my muscles presentation went well. Any with Val's skills I was about to understand the muscles and how they related to the yoga poses which is great!

Chair pose also protects you against flat foot which was the last muscle group we talked about today in class :P

Back in Nevis my guy is getting better with his pink eye and he has lost NINE pounds so far on his diet/cleanse which is so amazing for him! I am super excited for him! Talked with my mom and she started her training with my holistic coach too so I am handing out Cady to everyone :P

My cousin and his amazing lady are getting married in a couple days which is super exciting! Congrats to them! Oh and happy birthday to my mother-in-law too.

Well today I want to be asleep before midnight so I had better run. Still need to review my opening mediation a couple times. I am hoping to to skype yoga classes in the morning before I head into the studio. I am so going to nail this exam :)

And then I get to focus on all my book homework to finish up hopefully before I start the other section of work with Allaine. But I do need to remember to make my "to do" list attainable in a day so that I feel accomplished.

Very proud of myself! Finding balance.

Much love to you all!

~ this is me in dancers pose - not that great 'cas hard to snap a shot and get into full pose on time but this is one of my most favorite poses to create the feeling of balance (but when I do it tighter then this)

Monday 23rd 2012

Talked with Lane a few times today which was nice. My Poor guy is off work 'cas he has pink eye! Ah the funny stories I could tell you about the last time Lane had pink eye - not funny at the time but now crack me up. Gotta love that. Still, I feel so bad for him right now! Not fun! At least the cats are keeping him company.

I am busy here in Miami rewriting the entire sequence like a script for my practical exam on Thursday. It is taking me a lot longer then I expected but I think the results will be worth it. I like not having to rack my brain with what to say during the times my yogi classmates are taking their breaths. Now with this technique I can let it flow seamlessly.

I am presenting the Tensor Fasciae Latae and the 3 mussels that make up the Hamstrings tomorrow which I cannot pronounce. lol should be fun.

Again, it is late, and I still have a few more poses to get through for my script of the sequence for my practical exam Thursday so I better get going. Tomorrow I will fill you all in with a better blog...for now I am busy busy busy in the midst of the yoga knowledge.

Check out this video of what is happening back at home in Nevis with Neve (the turtle) at the Four Seasons Resort where my man works. It is amazing. Hope magical of an experience it this!

Sunday July 22nd /12

today I should have lots and lots to tell you all about my great class working with inversions in arm balancing poses. I have been working on all my homework though and just realised how late it is so this blog wile be short and sweet.

I was at the studio today for 7 hrs. I took the 9am class then observed the 10:30 am classes then did the teacher training class. My class today was a lot of fun. I was in crow forever and then side crow both sides and forehand stand for SEVEN WHOLE SECONDS - that's big or "maha" (having greatness) as the say in Sanskrit.

My forehand stand is something I am getting more and more excited about

Oh yes and I did hand stands which I haven't done since I was a child so it made me giggle. And I had the opportunity to practise shavasana massages and alignment to strangers which was great.

We had the best longest shavasana today too which was wonderful for rejuvenation.

Oh yes and how can I forget - peacock pose! I have got it. The version where your feet press together. It's all wonderful.

Well... better get ready for bed.

 Saturday 22/12

Today was a glorious day that was gone in a blink of an eye. Today we were not in yoga classes athough we did self practise (and I ran at the gym this morning too).

Actually, yes, lets start there with my day. So the oddest thing happened today at the gym that made me smile. Last night I was up late with homework so I slept in which was so wonderful. I went to the gym just before 10am. Being that it is Saturday, no one else was there at that time. So I went around and turned off all the TVs that were on and began my run. By the time I was finished my half hr run the gym was full but the TV's remained off. I was super excised for this. None of us were therefore exposed to all the commercials blasted at us through programs. In fact, there was no sound in the gym at all bysides all of us working out to the sound of our own breath. Being in yoga teacher training I LOVED it. It also made me realise how a customer we are to just going with it. We expect the gym to be loud and tvs all going with different programs. It was a great realisation and gift.

Today I was able to get my other lens sorted that I had to replace for my photography company. I am super excited to have that all done. I need to test the lens still but at least now I have it. It was weighing on me that I am not making any time to get things done in my main business. Often being self employed people believe that your schedule is totally open when in fact it is the opposite. I have had to push back all my photo deadlines when I arrived here in Miami and found out we would not have a single day off. It has been a challenge and even with me devoting all my attention to yoga I still feel behind on the text work. That and the fact that memorising science things like anatomy and sand script language is new. I haven't been a student in years but I am giving it my all.

"You've only got three choices in life: give up, give in or give it all you've got"

OK, to other parts of my day. Took myself out for lunch which was a fun time for me to enjoy and connect with myself. I bought a couple things for myself on the walk back to the bus stop too which made for a giving experience to me.

I ate the best spaghetti squash ever for dinner made without Lane's help (but I did use his technique). I also got dressed today in real people clothes for the 1st time in 18 days.  I have been wearing yoga clothes non stop but it is amazing how putting something else on can make your mood changed. I love love love yoga. Nevertheless, in the last 18day I have felt overwhelmed by yoga which is not what I expected at all. I have had terrible emotional break down moments and debt with a couple things in class that I really did not expect. I know it is all part of my journey and choose to be here. So today was a great day to take a step back and reflect.

Now I am listening to my recording of myself saying the yoga sequence as I write this blog. My list to complete today just for yoga were:
- Self practice ~ CHECK
- I need to finish my flash cards for sand script words ~  CHECK got those done: need to work on getting them in my brain now
- rewrite my shavasana meditation and my closing meditation ~ didn't get this done yet
- I also need to work on my memorization of the sequence ~ didn't get this done yet
- do more text book homework ~ only able to finishing chapter 5
- work on more memorizing of sequence ~ constant project
- food log ~ CHECK
- hours log ~ CHECK

So, a thing I like to do but need to break the pattern of is always packing too many things to try and get done in a day so I never feel accomplished. Lets make today be the last day of doing that. Need to put far less on that list or loose sleep. We all know I can't loose sleep. So, on that note, I am going to start getting ready for bed :) It's 11:35pm

Good night everyone. Back to yoga in the morning.

Friday, July 20, 2012

I have been working on the book homework since 5 pm tonight - I stated with chapter 4 and I am not half way through chapter 5's homework. It is just after 11pm. I am exhausted - I think I am being WAY to in depth in the answers. It is just that I don't want to regurgitate everything that is in the book so with each question I am also seeing what research I can find in addition on the Internet too.

Being able to have a constant flow of Internet is AMAZING. In Nevis and Costa Rica where I have been living the last few years the Internet is up and then it is down and then it is up and sometimes for days it is down. Here it is always up so I am researching EVERYTHING online which I think is a good thing in a way and a bad thing for time.

I need to get my sleep though - last week I am getting under 7 hours. When I started training 7 months ago with my holistic coach the 1st thing she told me was that if I couldn't commit to 7.5 to 8 hrs sleep a night then I would never heal, never loose the weight I use to carry, never be healthy ext. It was life changing and I can feel the difference BIG TIME when I am not being good to be practise of getting enough sleep.

Will plug away for a bit more and then get some sleep. Waiting to hear from Lane too.

Tomorrow I need to finish my flash cards for sandscript words, rewrite my savasana meditation and my closing meditation. I also need to work on my memorisation of the sequence and do more text book homework. So much and only a couple more days of just Fred's class - soon we will be switching to Allaine and her work is very time consuming too. I guess for me now my biggest challenge is time - my classmates have the opportunity of taking their time with getting things done since they all live here but I need my certificate when I am done the course as i am going home. I know I can do it :) I just don't want to loose any more sleep over it.

Speaking of which today in class we also learned adjustment techniques for savasana. My husband will be so happy ahaha! His favorite pose he always says ever since we attended Nina Webber's class three days a week in Costa Rica religiously, is that his favorite pose is savasana. It's the hardest pose to master they say...Lane always falls asleep :P

In other news I got into peacock pose today and held it for 5 breaths! And my jump up in forehand stand was strong too. Still need someone to stand behind me or be by the wall just in case with forehand stand but bit by bit :) I am grateful for my progress!

Well...should get back to textbook work while I still have some energy.

Thursday 20th 2012

Part of our home work tonight is to come up with abb workouts for our abb sections on the classes we will be teaching to clients in the future. I think I am going to pull some ideas from this  workout video I found on youtube 'cas there are some hard ones in here!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUjFh4J1dnc

OMG it's been hours and I am only half way through chapter fours questions! Each question mind you is actually 3 questions. And then it takes me about a page per question to answer each question.

It is getting so late and I need to get enough sleep and I haven't been so much go. Waiting for my guy to figure out skype :P

 Wednesday 18/12

Not going to comment on class right now...

Outside of that I did get a US number today for my cell phone. I talked with Lane and he hit a 90 in golf today which is great and he is loosing weight on his diets steadily which is awesome. He is training with my holistic coach Cady Norman which is so wonderful. I am super excited for him. My mother started training with her today too.

I gave a class to my roommate Ellen today in the morning before left for my course. She really liked it which was good. I am getting better which is are some! I even did my opening pranayama based on what we were outlined to say but I brought my own experience into it too. I feel it is important for my students to identify with me rather then a script I am told to say. I appreciate the foundation being built in my classes but no one way is right just like no one pose is yoga. I really like my opening pranayama so I will write it with a few variations for different situations. Next I will work on my closing meditation.

I have finished the book with all the poses we have done so far  the Gentle Therapeutics Yoga. I think I am going to identify best with this section for now as I seem to need more gentle in my life. I love the physical aspects of power yoga and I love to practise it.  I need to connect to that.

Had a great talk with both my love (Lane)  and my room mate (Ellen) which I think was hugely beneficial.

I will briefly touch on one aspect of our class today which had to do with the chakra's and understanding what the root chakra (muladhara) means when saying its theme is fear or survival. It seems odd to think of fear in a way that is helpful to you but it is all based of perspective.

We are dealing with heavy spirituality subjects in class as well and the outlooks on things reminded me of this seen from this firm I studied back in University years ago while majoring in photography. The journey of this character in this film and the outlooks were quite pivotal.
